Camstudio vs camtasia8/2/2023 is nuts? I don't understand jack about codecs, I don't even know if it's an "encoder" of "decoder" which makes the video or whatever. I'm even using the camtastia-home-codec called "techsmith screen capture codec" in my professional video editing Ye seriously, i've been battering camtasia vs camstudio, I have to state that in my experience so far camtatia is kicking the living daylights out of every screen-capture software i've come across so farĬamtatia easily allows fps rate, output size, file management (swf files with a control panel build in) So, what do you use? What would you recommend? Given the limited amount of use I'm likely to get out of this, it needs to be either free or relatively cheap - £50 ($100) MAX! It also needs to be "local" - no saving stuff to 3rd party servers, no "phoning home" malarky etc.Īny thoughts or suggestions gratefully received The Jing Project No, because I refuse to upload my stuff to a 3rd party server over which I have no control. Super Screen Capture This is a possibility. I spend half my time trying to disable such things. Sadly most of them fail my (rather stringent) criteria.ĬamStudio I'm not sure I want to support a product aimed at internet advertisers by including redirect facilities. I've had a look around (googled ) and found a number of options. I know there are several regulars here who do this - it seems like a great way to to get an idea across, much better than loads of typing and a few screenshots can do. The price tag is too expensive to justify this solely for its screen recording capabilities.I'm looking around for something which will allow me to create short Video Tutorials. There are significantly cheaper options for screen recording software, including decent free options. As such, it is more designed for piecing together existing footage than to edit mistakes in the footage or add significant pieces to the footage. As a video editor, it lacks options for color correction or other features that video professionals would need to use in their work environments. ![]() ![]() This is good for creating content to edit later.Ĭons: The only way to really justify the price tag is to fully utilize the video editing in conjunction with the video and screen recording capabilities. It also offers functionality for recording the screen, either the whole screen or a part of it, in addition to support for audio recording and webcam recording. The editor supports video editing up to 4K resolution, so it will be able to handle modern camcorder footage. There is multitrack editing in the linear video editor supplied, good for adding titles, overlay images, backgrounds to green screen footage, and adding multiple audio tracks to the videos. This feature isn’t typically offered at a price below $300, so it is nice to see this feature in a product at this price point. Their software makes removing a green screen as simple as finding the color and removing it. Each operating system has its own version of the software, though, so different downloads will need to be purchased.Īnother advantage it has over some of the other options in its category is the option for easy green screen replacement. Cross platform usage is important for users who either need to create content to share with other editors on other platforms, or for users who frequently bounce between devices running different operating systems. ![]() Pair that with the fact that it is a cross platform product, and Camtasia becomes an easier choice for using as a video editor. ![]() Pros: Having focused on being a video editor first, then adding recording capabilities into the software, Camtasia is an all in one solution for content editing and creation. It offers features that will make the editing component worthwhile and makes recording and editing screen recordings of the desktop and iOS devices simple. However, for users who don’t need a full scale video editor, but still wish to have a powerful video editor, or need to record videos and edit them in one place, Camtasia will be worth the price. At a price of $199, it is a more expensive option than many other video editors available, and there are cheaper options for those looking to only record their screen. Overall Opinion: Camtasia is primarily advertising itself as a video editor, with the secondary capability of recording the screen.
